Today I have decided to introduce two new categories upon ‘The Pupillage Blog’ entitled ‘Worthy Legal Podcasts’ and ‘Worthy Pupillage Tutorials’. It is inescapable the way the superhighway of information channels are constantly changing as both podcasting and videocasting have almost become a national institution. So I have decided to flow with the tide and put away my VCR and reel-to-reel tape recording devices and firmly descend into this new millennium with gusto!
Well, where better to start than having a look at the offering from the ‘Sweet & Maxwell Podcasts’. After a bit of investigation, I came across the following podcasts,

This link offers 13 different podcasts ranging across different academic legal studies whilst even including one upon tips on effective mooting and advocacy skills.
On that note, if you are looking for a good online mooting video tutorial, then why not have a look at the following link. Lawbore have produced a really useful online video on mooting which covers a range of skills, from handling questions, citing authorities, defending arguments, Judges’ questioning, conversational delivery to making a good impression while you Moot.
So if you are considering entering a mooting competition whether it be at your Inn, Bar School, or even at university then click on this MOOTING LINK.
Let’s have a look at some other podcasts. A really good Website which is regularly updated is Charon QC Lawcasts. Here you will find a wide variety of podcasts across the legal forum and certainly worth a regular visit to keep you on your bewigged toes. For an overview in Family Law, especially if you are considering this as your specialist practice area, then why not have a listen to Jacqui Gilliatt, a barrister at 4 Brick Court.
Finally, for a mix of both the audio and visual, then I would certainly recommend the online seminars at One Crown Office Row. Not only does this link provide a wide subject area of law, but on each seminar there are handout materials, related PowerPoint slides and, in most cases, a sound recording of the talk itself which can be downloaded as a podcast.
